What Rail Mutual is, what it isn’t, and what really decides a mutual transfer.

Last updated 17 September 2026Draft — under review by a legal adviser before launch

01An independent platform

Rail Mutual is an independent platform and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Indian Railways, Ministry of Railways, or any railway zone.

Rail Mutual does not use the logos of Indian Railways or its zones. Railway names shown on the platform only describe where employees are posted and where they would like to go.

02Matches are indicative

Match labels and scores show how well two profiles fit on this platform, based on the details employees enter. They are a guide for comparing matches. They are not an official decision, and a match does not mean a transfer is permitted or will happen.

03Transfers follow railway rules

Rail Mutual does not receive, process or forward transfer applications. Whether a mutual transfer is permitted, and whether it is approved, remains subject to the applicable railway rules and the decision of the competent railway authorities. Employees apply through their own administration.

04Zones, divisions and posts

The lists of zones, divisions, departments, posts and sub posts used on Rail Mutual are being completed and may not match official records exactly. If something you need is missing, please tell us.

05Details entered by employees

  • Each employee is responsible for keeping their own profile accurate and up to date.
  • A “verified” badge means our team checked an employee’s details against their railway ID card. It is not an official Railway record.
  • Rail Mutual is not responsible for what other employees say or do, or for decisions made on information they provide.

06Fees

Joining and browsing matches are free. When our team connects two employees, a connection fee may apply. It pays for that help only — it does not buy, speed up or secure a transfer. See our Terms & Conditions.
